Anaptyx, a company that provides WiFi Internet access to entire apartment communities and municipalities through energy-efficient technology, won Cupid’s Cup in 2008. Since winning the business competition, Anaptyx has had tremendous success. The company completed a large project it landed to provide WiFi to Harvard Square in Cambridge, Mass, and secured additional current clients -- the Cambridge Housing Authority; City of Boston; City of Cambridge; City of Nashua, N.H.; City of Newmarket, N.H.; City of Harrisville, N.H. – with several more in the pipeline.

Most recently, the company started work on a project for the City of Boston in Dorchester, Mass. to cover approximately one square mile of the town with a municipal WiFi network. The team is also set to begin an installation next week in the first of several affordable housing communities in Cambridge for its housing authority.

On the sales/recruitment side, Anaptyx executives are in talks with Washington DC and a number of local business associations and groups to promote a free wireless system for all the major commercial areas in D.C. The company continues to focus on changing the dynamics of wireless Internet and push hard for local communities to change the way they use the Internet. Large residential complexes remain a major focus, but given the success of the Harvard Square project and the fact that cities are the few still spending money in this economic environment, Anaptyx has spent the past few months focusing on municipal projects.

The company’s goal is to connect large residential complexes and municipalities with the most reliable, secure and affordable Internet connection while minimizing the environmental impact.
