Student Programs
The Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) staff are
working with a number of academic units within the Smith School and across the University
of Maryland (UMD) campus to bring resources and opportunities for students to strengthen
their international business knowledge and expertise. Several of these are ongoing
initiatives at Smith and UMD and some are new initiatives being undertaken by CIBER.
Some of these opportunities are also available to students from other schools and
colleges at the University of Maryland, College Park.
You may access these resources and opportunities via this page and by speaking
with CIBER staff. If
you have a specific "international" project in mind, please contact
Dr. Kislaya Prasad, CIBER Director.

CIBER FELLOWSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS
The CIBER Fellowship will provide funding for two or three Full-time MBA
students who receive offers for unremunerated internships outside of the United
States for a period of no less than six weeks during the summer, 2012 break. It
consists of one round trip airfare on a U.S. carrier (from the United States to
the country where the company offering the internship is located), as well as an
honorarium of US $1,500 for the duration of the internship, to be issued upon
return from the internship. Priority for the CIBER Fellowship will be given to
students who have not had significant exposure to the internship host country
prior to joining the MBA Program.
The purpose of this Fellowship is to support students’ exposure to the
international business arena, enhance their educational experience at the Robert
H. Smith School of Business – University of Maryland, as well as strengthen the
School’s reputation worldwide. Students must apply to be considered for a CIBER
Fellowship. Given the competitive nature of the process, funding is not
guaranteed. Details about the application procedure are forthcoming.
