Two CIBER-Sponsored Special Awards for Internships in Thailand

CIBER is pleased to announce 2 (two) internship opportunities in Thailand for the summer, 2011. Both opportunities involve projects dedicated to fostering social ventures in Thailand. The awards provide funds for 2 (two) full-time MBA students to perform non-remunerated internships with Population and Community Development Association (PDA) for a period of no less than 10 weeks between the end of this spring semester and the beginning of the fall, 2011 semester. Funding for this initiative is provided by a joint award involving CIBER, PDA and the Global Business School Network (GBSN) and includes roundtrip airfare to Thailand as well as a stipend to cover local living expenses (lodging, food and transportation).

Students must apply to be considered for the CIBER Special Award for Internships in Thailand. Please note that this is a competitive application process. Applications will only be accepted if all the required documents are submitted by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28 to: ciber@rhsmith.umd.edu.

  • Consultant in Organizational Culture | DOWNLOAD APPLICATION
    Given PDA’s reputation and achievements, the organization is looking for a consultant interested in studying PDA’s organizational culture, two of its successful social venture initiatives and the impact these have had on local communities. The final deliverables are white-paper case studies to be published worldwide. The two enterprises the consultant will focus on are (a) the Birds and Bees Resort in Pattaya, Chon Buri, Thailand; and (b) the Business for Rural Education and Development (BREAD), a social enterprise that supports the Mechai Pattana School in Buriram, Thailand.
  • Social Venture Consultant | DOWNLOAD APPLICATION
    Given PDA’s successful achievements in social enterprises, the organization is looking for a consultant interested in working on the market expansion, both domestic and international, of the Business for Rural Education and Development (BREAD). Additionally, it is expected that the consultant will also explore school-based business opportunities as part of the School-Based Integrated Rural Development (School-BIRD) Program, which is a poverty eradication program that combines three independent and successful rural development projects into a singular project based at rural public schools.
