Langar is a Sikh Tradition started by our Gurus which is an outright rejection of all caste, racial, social, or gender distinctions. It is when anyone (regardless of religion) comes together to share a meal. The Langar is open to all, and is always free of charge. Today, Langar is typically held at a Gurdwara (literally the door to the Guru, analogous to a Christian church, but not strictly a place of worship, more of a place of learning) after the service has concluded. The meal is always vegetarian for the purpose of anyone being able to eat, regardless of dietary constrictions. The Sikh Students Association is bringing this tradition to campus on Tuesday November 18 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the Multipurpose Room at the Nyumburu Cultural Center. Take a break from dining hall food and come by anytime between 6 and 9 to be served a hot, FREE meal. That's right, we even serve it to you, all you have to do is come and sit!
