Mechai ViravaidyaThere will be a reception in the Van Munching Hall atrium where you will have the opportunity to talk to other Smith Students who recently participated international programs through these Smith School centers.

Internationally acclaimed social entrepreneur and founder of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA), Mechai Viravaidya (also known as “ The Condom King”), will deliver the keynote address and will speak about the numerous innovative and social entrepreneurial activities that are currently taking place throughout Thailand.

Mechai Viravaidya has been acclaimed with numerous awards, recognition, including: the United Nations Gold Peace Medal (1981), one of Asiaweek’s “20 Great Asians” (1995), the United Nations Population Award (1997), and one of TIME Magazine’s “Asian Heroes” (2006), the Bill and Melinda Gates Award for Global Health (2007), the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship (2008).
