Student Fellows

Aparna Agarwal is an MBA student at the Smith School of Business with three years of multi-national work experience in the IT and finance services sector.  Her interests include exploring the use and management of information technology to bridge the existing gap in bringing health care to all sections of society.  She is involved in conducting research in the areas of the emerging model of national health services in countries and as a first step, is focusing her analysis on India.  Apart from her academic work, she is also interested in adventure sports, with her greatest personal achievement being a Himalayan trek to an altitude of 13,900 ft.
Jorge B. Diaz is a 2009 MBA candidate who has been involved with the center since June 2008.  He has been working on a project with CHIDS' member CISCO to determine the impact that advanced communication technologies have on the economic performance of hospitals, focusing specifically on the dynamics of the Discharge Planning Process.  His career interests are in strategy and business development within the health care industry.
Bing Jiang, a junior, is completing a dual major in information systems and finance at the Smith School. His interests include health information technology and Health 2.0 developments. He is involved in several student group activities such as SUSA, BITS and SMART at the Smith School. 
Melvin Lye is a 2010 MBA candidate. Prior to starting the MBA program, he had 7 years experience in the IT industry holding both technical development and project management roles in the development of online Web systems. He is interested in how information systems augment the evolution of healthcare organizations and services and is starting his research in the personal health information management area at CHIDS.  Melvin enjoys reading finance related articles when he is not doing research on healthcare and information technology.
Ngozi Nwaneri is a double major in information systems and finance and is a senior at the Smith School.  His interests include technology, computer and network security, software development, system development, systems analysis and design, and business and IT alignment. He is interested in studying how health information technology (HIT) gives advantage in the field of healthcare, and is conducting research on Personal Health Records (PHR) and PHR systems and their role in the Healthcare sector.
Karen Pereira is a 201 MBA candidate, with 3 years of experience in the field of information technology & services. Her interests in healthcare include leveraging her business and technology knowledge to make healthcare in general more convenient and accessible to all. She is conducting a landscape assessment of the home health monitoring industry. Along with her interest in healthcare and technology, she also enjoys organizing and participating in social and cultural events.
Rahul Samtani, a senior, is pursuing a dual degree in logistics, transportation, & supply chain management and information systems. He is interested in how HIT can affect different demographics, and is currently researching the public healthcare system of India. His focus is on reach and access in rural areas, and the healthcare urban-rural divide.
