Annual and Forthcoming Events

CIO Forum

Established in 1999, the CIO Forum is a yearly meeting of top chief information officers, technology strategists and academic researchers in the mid-Atlantic states.  The Smith School hosts annual CIO Forums in October-November every year at Van Munching Hall, presented by the Center for Electronic Markets and Enterprises (CEME) and the Center for Health Information and Decision Systems (CHIDS). Every year the Forum centers around a central theme. Events are highly interactive and focus on the most important issues confronting technology strategists in the emerging digital economy, including e-commerce, the IT talent shortage, Internet strategy, multi-sourcing, next generation architectures, and other topics.  Check back this summer for details and registration information for the 9th Annual CIO Forum, either at the CHIDS Web site or the CIO Forum Web site.

CHIDS - NSF I/UCRC Planning Meeting March 15-16th, 2007

The National Science Foundation has awarded CHIDS a planning grant to explore the possibility of becoming an Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC). This is a highly prestigious award and a strong signal that CHIDS is well positioned to be a focal catalyst for bringing multiple stakeholders together. In a planning meeting on March 15-16, 2007,over 45 attendees discussed and crafted CHIDS' research agenda over two days. As a follow up to this meeting, CHIDS was invited to participate in the ‘NSF I/UCRC 2008 Annual Meeting’ on ‘Partnering for Innovation: Collaborating Across Sectors, Agencies and Institutions’ in January 2008. Jibanananda Khuntia represented CHIDS in the meeting and interacted with other I/UCRC centers leaders. CHIDS is working toward submitting the full proposal in Spring 2008 for the final grant.
