The Center for Financial Policy at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is pleased to announce its inaugural forum: “Executive Compensation: Practices and Reforms” to be held on Monday, November 2, 2009, in the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center, Washington, D.C. The keynote speaker will be Kenneth Feinberg, Special Master for Compensation, U.S. Department of the Treasury.

The recent financial crisis has thrust corporate governance practices into the public debate along several dimensions. Executive compensation practices at our largest financial services companies, in particular, feature prominently today in financial policymaking. While this topic has been a lightning rod for stirring deep emotions on both sides of the issue, it affects corporate America and touches the life of every American. The roundtable will explore the rationale and practices for existing executive compensation structures as well as explore various alternatives for reform in view of policy and legislative proposals by Congress and the administration. This event brings together leading academic, government, and industry practitioners to offer insight and propose solutions to one of today's most pressing financial policy issues.
