Smith Business Edge
This
summer the Robert H. Smith School of Business is offering a new program
exclusively for non-business majors.
The program is being taught by some of the best teaching faculty in the
business school. Smith Business Edge provides non-business undergraduate
students and recent graduates with an intensive, six-week academic experience in
business fundamentals. In Smith Business Edge, you will have the opportunity to
earn eight credits in six weeks. You will develop an essential business skill
set, broaden your academic foundation, strengthen your problem solving and
decision making skills, and acquire a notable asset for your résumé.
In addition, the accelerated format will allow the topics of accounting,
finance, management and marketing to be delivered in a much more interesting
fashion than through a traditional Fall or Spring semesters. Furthermore, the
program content is delivered with innovative teaching techniques such as
simulations, assessments, business cases, and guest speakers.
Whether your future career path is as an artist or engineer, or educator -
you will make yourself more valuable and relevant to potential employers with an
understanding of business fundamentals and marketplace drivers. A six-week
investment in Smith Business Edge will impart skills and qualities and provide
an important credential.
Young job seekers hoping to stand out in an uncertain economy will gain key
assets and advantages. In addition, if you complete the entire six weeks and all
four courses you will be awarded with a Smith Business Edge NOTATION on your
Maryland transcript!
