Blackboard replaced by Canvas January 1st, 2013

Blackboard, the online Enterprise Learning Management System (ELMS) that has been used by Smith faculty and students since 2002 and used campus-wide since 2006, is to be replaced by Canvas starting from January 1, 2013.

To access Canvas and for related supporting documents, go to http://elms.umd.edu.

Old Blackboard course users (both faculty and students): You will be able to retrieve materials from Blackboard system until June 30, 2013 via the link provided at http://elms.umd.edu  from the small white text link at the bottom of the menu on the left, or http://umcp.blackboard.com. Please BE SURE to download and save any course materials you wish to keep in your Blackboard courses.

*INSTRUCTORS: You may collect and download a copy of your BB course files with course structure using Content Collection in BB system,  You may make this zipped course file available for students if you or just use it as a resource for setting up your new Canvas course as well.

Instructors who will be teaching Winter or Spring 2013 courses: We highly recommend you attend a Canvas Workshop.

Alert for BB System Outages Want to be notified in the event of an emergency? Campus OIT provides an Alert System that you can get email or voice mail when Blackboard or other selected system is down. Click here to sign up.

 

 


Users in Smith School of Business can access Blackboard course sites at http://bb.rhsmith.umd.edu. This BB support website can be accessed when you click on the "Help" button on the top of your Blackboard page.

In this Blackboard support website maintained by Smith IT, we provide links to some of the many ways to gather information about using this tool. The campus OIT also provide many other manuals and training materials that you can reach from the "Support" tab when login to Blackboard system.
