Motivate and inspire incoming Smith MBA students during
MBA Orientation 2008 this August.

Several opportunities for you to connect with new students and MBA alumni are planned between August 18-24, 2008 at the Robert H. Smith School of Business.

Orientation activities for all incoming students will take place in College Park. Activities for part-time MBA students will occur on August 23-24.

MBA alumni are invited to join students for select informal and formal activities throughout the week to welcome new students and introduce them to the Smith community, various career paths, and expectations of incoming students from the alumni perspective.

To receive additional details in the coming weeks via e-mail about how you can participate in this summer’s welcoming events for new Smith MBA students, please send an e-mail from your preferred e-mail address to volunteer@rhsmith.umd.edu with the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Smith MBA grad year
  • MBA program you graduated from (Full-time, Part-time, EMBA)
  • Campus location preference (College Park, Shady Grove, Baltimore, D.C.)

M&A Case Competition
October 11-12, 2007

This case competition will comprise teams from some of the top U.S. MBA programs in a first-of-its kind event. Teams of up to 4 students will compete over a two-day period in a competition that will simulate an actual M&A pitch meeting to Wall Street Bankers and corporate executives. The competition will include a networking reception for students to mingle with other schools, judges and invited guests, while providing recruiting opportunities and cash prizes for the winning teams.

Join us as we plant trees in an effort to restore, enhance and protect the tree canopy of the Nation's Capital! Don't miss this great opportunity to give back to the community, all while reconnecting and networking with Smith young alumni and current students. A shuttle bus will depart Van Munching Hall at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 2 p.m. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. A waiver is required to participate and will be distributed as you RSVP. Smith T-shirt and snacks will be provided.
