Alan has
over 25 years of internal audit
experience. He currently is the
Auditor General for the
Inter-American Development
Bank. Prior to his current
position, Alan has over 12 years
of public accounting firm
experience as a Partner at Ernst
& Young and at Grant Thornton,
as well as a Director at
Deloitte & Touche, leading
regional internal audit services
practices. Prior to that, he
has served 13 years as Chief
Audit Executive and the
Information Systems Audit
Director for an International
Financial Services Company,
where he directed an internal
audit staff of 40
professionals. Prior to that
position, Alan spent several
years with the US General
Accounting Office (GAO) now
Government Accountability
Office, where he performed a
variety of information systems,
financial and operational
audits.
Alan is
currently a member of the
Institute of Internal Auditor’s
Board of Regents, North American
Board and International Board.
He is also a member of the Bon
Secours Health System-Baltimore
Board of Directors and Audit
Committee. He has lectured at
numerous seminars concerning
internal auditing, information
systems auditing and computer
security throughout the United
States and overseas in Beijing,
Sydney, Brussels, London,
Dublin, Paris, Moscow,
Amsterdam, Vienna, as well as
several countries in South
America and Central America.
He holds a
BS in Information Systems with
concentration in Accounting from
King’s College, Wilkes-Barre,
Pennsylvania and an MBA with a
concentration in Management
Science from the University of
Maryland Smith School of
Business. Alan is a CPA, CIA,
CGAP, CCSA, CFSA, CISA, CBA,
CITP and a CSP.
He is also
an adjunct instructor at the
University of Maryland Smith
School of Business, where he
teaches graduate internal
auditing courses, a mentor in
the school’s MBA Program, and a
member of the Accounting and
Information Assurance Policy
Advisory Board. |
