Ariel Ramirez has provided investigative, forensic audit, litigation support
and compliance services to Fortune 500 companies, private entities, US federal agencies,
and foreign governments in North, Central and South America, Eastern and Western
Europe, the Middle East, Asia, South Africa and Mediterranean.
He is a Director in the global Forensic Audit team of Siemens AG, heads investigations
in the Americas, and conducts internal investigations worldwide. Prior he was Director
of Special Investigations for Siemens responsible for North America. Ariel is an
award-winning Adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland teaching MBA/MS
courses. Prior to joining Siemens, his positions included Principal & National Practice
Co-Leader, Fraud & Forensic Services; National Director & Practice Leader, Fraud
Services; Director, Disputes & Investigations; and all position levels from Senior
Associate to Senior Manager with Big4 and consulting firms.
Ariel has worked directly for C-level executives, Board of Directors and Audit
Committees, as well as with and/or on behalf of in-house and outside legal counsel
including expert-witness preparation on deliverables for the US Department of Justice,
Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Environmental
Protection Agency, US Postal Service, and US Congress, into allegations of financial
fraud, corruption, bribery, and other misconduct.
Concurrently with his professional career, he served in the United States armed
forces reserves, in the Marine Corps graduating from Parris Island, and as a Lieutenant
(jg) in the Navy Supply Corps logistics, graduating from Officer’s school in Pensacola
and last assigned to the Pentagon. His service includes a Presidential war recall
to active duty in support of Desert Storm/Desert Shield.
Ariel holds a BS (Computer Science), MBA (International Business) and the following
certifications: CFE, CIA, CFSA, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA and CICA. He is on the Board of
Advisors, Economic Crime Institute, Utica College, and is past Chapter President
and currently a Board Member on a local IIA chapter. Ariel has completed the Wicklander-Zulawski’s
Interview and Interrogation, Basic and Advanced Courses, and is trained on the Reid-Technique
of Interviewing. He is fully bilingual in Spanish and holds a national security
secret level clearance, previously top-secret level. Ariel is a frequent speaker
on fraud, compliance, FCPA, and risk topics, and has presented to universities,
corporations and professional associations around the world, including at the IIA’s
International Conference in South Africa, at the IIA’s General Audit Management
Conference in the United States.
