Dr. Loeb joined
the faculty at Maryland as an
Associate Professor in 1982
(from North Carolina State
University, where he was a
tenured Associate Professor in
the Department of Economics and
Business).
Dr. Loeb's early research was
in economic mechanism design,
incentive regulation, cost
allocations, and cost-based
procurement contracting. His
current research (with Professor
Lawrence Gordon) deals with
economic aspects of information
security and the interface
between managerial accounting
and information technology. In
addition to being a Professor at
the Smith School, he holds an
Affiliate Professorship in
University of Maryland Institute
for Advanced Computer Studies
(UMIACS). Dr. Loeb's papers span
several business disciplines,
and have been published in
leading academic journals,
including
The Accounting Review, ACM
Transactions on Information
and System Security, The
American Economic Review,
Contemporary Accounting
Research, Journal of Accounting
Research, Journal of Computer
Security, Journal of Law and
Economics, Journal of Accounting
and Public Policy, and
Management Science.
Professor Loeb serves or has
served on the editorial boards
of The Accounting Review,
British Accounting Review,
Journal of Business Finance &
Accounting, and Review of
Accounting Studies. Dr. Loeb
is currently an editor of the
Journal of Accounting and Public
Policy.
