Van Munching Hall - Site Improvements

Southwest Campus Gateway
Construction Outside VMH
In
summer 2007 fences went up outside the main entrance to Van Munching Hall as
construction of the university's Southwest Campus Gateway began. Lee
Comstock, director of operations at Smith, says, "This Gateway will serve as
the main pedestrian entrance to the campus on the south side. As part of
this construction, a clock tower will be constructed." Additional plantings
are also planned and this effort should address the pooling of water that
currently occurs in the Mowatt Lane Parking Garage, adds Comstock. This is
just one phase of the
southwest facilities development master plan. The project finished up in
early 2008.
