Kelly Mansfield Brown became Assistant Dean of the Smith School’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations in 2008. As Campaign Director for Smith’s Great Expectations Campaign, Brown leads a team of 25 toward raising $90 million and connecting with 40,000 Smith alumni worldwide.

Brown possesses a broad range of experience as a leading development and fundraising executive with a multifaceted career in philanthropic fund development, marketing and public relations. She has held senior leadership positions in individual major gift cultivation and solicitation, corporate and foundation relations, capital campaign management, and planned gift development. Brown is experienced in a wide variety of strategic planning activities and has far-reaching experience working with large, multi-faceted development departments and operating cost-effective, successful fund raising programs. Her extensive experience is most evident in supporting academic educational programs. She has demonstrable success in working with major and principal donors to marry their philanthropic goals with those of the institution.

Brown gained her extensive experience at such organizations as the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland; The Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum, Washington, DC; The Johns Hopkins University, Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Washington, DC; Center for Talented Youth, Baltimore, Maryland; and the Close Up Foundation.

Additionally, she received her educational training at The Johns Hopkins University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in History.

Brown is a native of New Jersey; however, she now resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with her husband, Allan, and their two children Aidan and Eleanor.
