Smith Strategy and Operations Case Competition 2013
In Partnership with Carbon War Room

Robert H. Smith School of Business is delighted to announce the
2nd Smith Strategy and Operations Case Competition to be
held on April 27th. This year the case competition will be held in
collaboration with the Carbon War Room. The
Carbon War Room is a non-profit with a mission to seek to accelerate profitable,
entrepreneurial solutions that reduce carbon emissions at gigaton level. The
Carbon War Room harnesses the power of entrepreneurs to unlock gigaton-scale,
market-driven solutions to climate change. The Carbon War Room aims to
facilitate a better flow of capital to entrepreneurial solutions that make
economic sense right now. The Carbon War Room also brings together
entrepreneurs, business leaders, policy experts, researchers, and thought
leaders to unlock market-driven solutions.
The case will focus around real world problems facing the trucking industry,
specifically in regard to green technologies and their use in this industry. The
competition aims to provide a platform for students to integrate and apply their
knowledge in strategy, supply chain, operations and technology to a business
problem faced by the trucking industry. Students will be tasked with developing
a practical yet creative solution supported by real data. This competition
provides an opportunity for students to compete, showcase their knowledge, and
learn from one another. The winning team will also have the chance to
collaborate with Carbon War Room to further discuss how the team’s solution
might be incorporated into Carbon War Room’s work and eventually implemented.
