The Smith School has replaced it's old portal system with a new presence in the University's MyUM portal. It has the most useful tools from the old Smith School portal, plus lots of great new tools integrated by the campus.

Smith School users should see a tab, the MySmith tab, when they log in.  Others around the University will NOT see this tab.  It's just for you!  Available there are:
  • The Smith Citrix Portlet, where you will find software applications normally only available in Van Munching Hall computer labs.
  • The Smith Lotus Apps Portlet, with single sign-on links to Smith webmail and the Sametime and Quickplace collaboration tools.
  • The Smith Calendar Portlet, which gives a customizable view of the shared Smith events calendar.
  • The Smith Identity Portlet, helping you maintain your Smith login information (used with Novell and Lotus Notes) and to configure MySmith with that information

Initial Configuration of MySmith

 1.  Open your web browser and go to: http://my.umd.edu

2.      Enter your University Directory username and password.  This is the same username and password you might already be using with the campus wireless network, Testudo, or Blackboard.

3.      Click Login  You will be presented with the MyUM home page.  To access MySmith click the “MySmith” tab.

The MySmith tab displays the Smith specific tools: the Smith Identity portlet used to manage your Smith identity inside of MyUM, important messages, upcoming events at the Smith School, Lotus Domino applications, and the Citrix (Windows Applications) portlet.  The Lotus Domino and Citrix portlets use your Smith School username and password.  The Citrix portlet allows remote access to many of the applications that are in the Smith School computer labs as well as the ability to access your Novell home folder. We encourage you to try out some of the features and as always, your feedback is much appreciated.

The campus Office of Information Technology has information about MyUM on their website.
